Abbiamo già avuto modo di parlare dell’area Cantoni nello scorso articolo, ma sebbene una parte sia stata destinata ad un centro commerciale, quali sono state le sorti del resto?

La foto sopra, scattata in via Pontida, vi mostra come sia cambiato notevolmente tutto: a partire dal 1985 l’intera fabbrica era dismessa, ogni capannone abbandonato e destinato al degrado; infatti, all’inizio degli anni 2000 iniziarono i lavori di demolizione e di riqualificazione dell’area. Inoltre, il progetto prevedeva la costruzione di una strada, oggi via Felice Musazzi, e di un’area residenziale.

l’impianto residenziale, che doveva occupare gran parte dell’area restante (vedi foto sopra), fu affidato a “Immobiliare Raffaella srl”. Quest’ultima, grazie al promotore Pietro Cardani e all’aiuto di Renzo Piano per l’impianto urbanistico, realizzarono un complesso urbano che ha stravolto completamente l’aspetto del centro di Legnano.

Nell’immagine sopra potrete vedere cosa comprendeva il progetto realizzato e concluso alla fine del 2004.  Lo stravolgimento è tale da aver cambiato anche la viabilità urbana, ma in meglio o in peggio? Questo lo lascio decidere a voi.

The photo above, taken in street Pontida, shows you how much everything has changed: since 1985 the entire factory was dismantled, all derelict and doomed to decay; In fact, in early 2000 work they began on the demolition and redevelopment. In addition, the project involved the construction of a road, now Via Felice Musazzi, and a residential area. 

The residential facility, which was to occupy much of the remainder (see photo above), was given to “Immobiliare Raffaella srl.”. The latter, thanks to the promoter Peter Cardani and the help of Renzo Piano for the urban layout, built a housing estate that has completely changed the face of central Legnano.

In the above image you can see what’s included the project implemented and completed in late 2004. The distortion is such that it also changed the urban road network, but for better or worse? This is up to you to decide.
