Era il 1908 quando venne fondata da Andrea Pensotti una delle più importanti industrie della nostra città. Pensotti lavorava all’interno della Franco Tosi, poi mettendosi in proprio, decise di aprire la fabbrica occupandosi di meccanica. Successivamente, si specializzò ulteriormente in caldaie, divenendo la quarta industria più importante a Legnano ed espatriando in tutto il mondo i suoi prodotti.

A causa di un lungo periodo di crisi, la ditta chiuse intorno al 1994, ma lo stabilimento in via XX Settembre fu acquistato dalla Sices Group nel 1995.

Lo stabilimento principale in via Firenze, via Pisa, viale Sabotino e via S. Bernardino, rimase abbandonato e destinato al degrado totale fino al 2008, anno in cui fu bonificato e demolito tutta l’area.

Durante questa lunga agonia l’area divenne un vero e proprio campo di spaccio e di rifugio per gli immigrati, che destabilizzavano la sicurezza del quartiere San Paolo, in particolare, degli abitanti nei palazzi circostanti l’area.

Fino all’età di 14 anni mi ricordo di quanta paura avevo solo per passare di lì, soprattutto la sera, perché molto spesso gli immigrati o spacciatori entravano da una porticina che si affacciava su viale Sabotino, che poi fu chiusa, oppure dalle sbarre che puntualmente venivano allargate o spaccate. Infatti, di notte si vedevano le teste sbucare dalle finestre rotte e gli accendini che lampeggiavano; insomma, l’area era un vero e proprio centro di spaccio.

Dopo la demolizione della fabbrica, il progetto per il recupero dell’area riguarda un “Central Park Legnano”, ovvero la costruzione di un polo residenziale con un ampio parco, come se a Legnano non ce ne siano già abbastanza.

Dalla foto sopra potrete vedere il progetto in programma per l’area ex Pensotti. Dopo ben 8 anni il progetto è ancora fermo, o meglio, passando dall’esterno non si notano molti cambiamenti.

Ma un’industria così importante per Legnano, quale la Pensotti, non meritava un riutilizzo di ben più prestigio? Le aree residenziali sono sempre così necessarie, oppure Legnano ha bisogno di  altri  servizi?

After the demolition of the factory, the project for the area’s recovery concerns a “Central Park Legnano”, namely the construction of a residential center with a large park , as if in Legnano there are not enough. From the picture above you can see the project planned for the former area Pensotti. After 8 years the project is still standing , or rather , going from the outside do not notice many changes.

But an industry so important to Legnano, which Pensotti, did not deserve a far more prestigious reuse? The residential areas are always so necessary, or Legnano needs other services?
